Two years after its completion, the Communication and Acoustics Simulator (CAS) at Oldenburg's Haus des Hörens is more popular than ever. Whether scientists, occupational safety specialists, architects, acoustic ceiling manufacturers or product experts from the hearing aid industry  - all take advantage of the CAS, our one-of-a-kind facility for investigating room acoustics. It was developed by Oldenburg's Center of Competence HörTech and it is now open to external users. While Oldenburg's hearing researchers invite the public to regular concerts there, it is not only an audiological attraction, but also a truly successful service offer.

Future Classroom is Innovative and Economic: The Hörzentrum Oldenburg Initiates Interdisciplinary Project
What kind of influences does a classroom exert on school performance? Oldenburg's hearing researchers have dedicated themselves to this question in a new interdisciplinary project. With the city's help and support from famous companies specialized in work and life space design, two model classrooms were developed at an Oldenburg elementary school. These learning environments of the future are innovative and cost-effective. In an accompanying study, the researchers investigated how these interior changes affect perception and behavior of students and teachers and presented the results to the public.

The Hörzentrum, a unique facility for hearing research and services, has completely renewed its internet appearance. Surfers can find information on the organization and its departments at http://www.hoerzentrum-oldenburg.de/ (in German). The new pages are conceptualized for representatives from the hearing aid branch, the hearing impaired seeking advice as well as the interested public. Visitors may even conduct an interactive test to check their sense of hearing.
