Successful learning: The Hörzentrum Oldenburg investigates classroom acoustics.
Students spend 75% of class time with listening. Yet amazingly, the effects of classroom acoustics on learning achievements are rarely tested. Several studies by researchers from the Hörzentrum Oldenburg and the University of Oldenburg have confirmed that loud and reverberant classrooms can impair well-being and concentration. Investigations to improve room acoustics in schools is one key issue managed by the Department of Market and Effects Research at the Hörzentrum Oldenburg.

Buzzing, squeaking, clicking and rattling: Oldenburg's hearing researchers test sounds made by devices.
The way we experience washing machines, vacuum cleaners and other everyday devices does not only depend on their functionality. The sounds they make also mold our impressions to a great extent. These are the results of a scientific project conducted by Dr. Markus Meis from the Department of Market and Effects Research at the Hörzentrum and Professor August Schick from the University of Oldenburg. Among its many activities , the internationally renowned Hörzentrum Oldenburg is also dedicated to researching the psychological effects of sound.
